IDF Chief of Staff Tests Readiness in Surprise Multi-Front Drill
The Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi, conducted a surprise readiness drill on Sunday to assess the Israel Defense Forces' ability to handle a complex, large-scale, multi-front outbreak. The exercise was held against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions, including recent exchanges between Iran and the United States, and volatile situations with Gaza, Lebanon, and other fronts.
The drill involved surprise activation of alert and reserve forces across all regional commands, directorates, and branches. Soldiers practiced responding to a variety of scenarios, including ground, air, and sea raids, mass casualty incidents, and hostage situations. The exercise also tested the IDF's defensive concepts and the implementation of defense orders in various sectors.
During the drill, ground and airborne reserves were activated, with actual deployment of battalions and special units. Forces were rapidly dispatched to different locations to provide the quickest possible response. The exercise also evaluated multi-branch cooperation, including air, ground, and sea forces, as well as decision-making processes and operational responses at all levels, from regional commands up to the Chief of Staff.
"We will conduct in-depth learning from the drill's lessons, identifying strengths and areas for improvement, in order to continue enhancing the IDF's defense and readiness for a variety of scenarios," the IDF stated.
