IDF Conducts Major Exercise Simulating Extreme Scenarios
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) recently conducted a large-scale exercise simulating a range of extreme scenarios, including ground, air, and sea raids, as well as missile attacks, shooting incidents, mass casualty events, and hostage situations. The drill involved the actual deployment of battalions and special forces units to various operational zones and arenas, emphasizing rapid response times.
During the exercise, forces practiced responding to diverse threats, testing defense concepts and the implementation of defense orders across different sectors. This included the activation of reserves and readiness forces, both by land and air, with units being rapidly mobilized to different locations.
The drill also focused on enhancing inter-branch cooperation between the air, ground, and naval forces, and evaluated decision-making processes and operational responses at all command levels, from regional commands and branches up to the General Staff.
The IDF plans to conduct a thorough debriefing to learn lessons from the exercise, identify strengths, and pinpoint areas for improvement. The goal is to further enhance Israel's defense capabilities and overall readiness for a variety of potential threats. The exercise was part of the Operations Directorate's training schedule for 2026.
