IDF Destroys Hezbollah Underground Command Post Near UNIFIL in Southern Lebanon

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers from Brigade 401 and the Yahalom engineering unit recently destroyed an underground Hezbollah command post in southern Lebanon. The operation uncovered and demolished a roughly 55-meter-long tunnel system beneath a building materials factory, located about 300 meters from a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) facility.

During the search of the tunnel, the IDF found three living quarters used by Hezbollah militants and seized dozens of weapons stored inside an underground shaft. The location of the command post beneath a civilian industrial site and close to UNIFIL's building highlights Hezbollah's tactic of embedding military infrastructure near civilian and international presence to complicate detection and targeting.

The IDF emphasized that Brigade 401 and Yahalom continue to target and dismantle terrorist infrastructure in southern Lebanon to prevent attacks against Israel. The operation reflects ongoing Israeli efforts to counter Hezbollah's military buildup along the border. No casualties were reported during the mission.

The IDF spokesperson released photos documenting the destroyed tunnel and weapons cache. The incident occurred recently, with the report published approximately 14 minutes after the operation's conclusion, underscoring the swift communication from the military.
