Inter Milan Signs Israeli Star Anan Khalaili in €25 Million Deal

Anan Khalaili, the 21-year-old Israeli national team midfielder, is set to complete his transfer to Inter Milan this weekend. Khalaili will arrive in Milan on Friday, undergo medical tests on Saturday, and then officially sign a five-year contract worth around €2 million per season. Inter agreed to acquire him from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise for approximately €25 million.

Former Inter captain Giuseppe Bergomi praised Khalaili's signing, highlighting the player's speed and suitability for Inter's 3-5-2 formation. Bergomi emphasized the need for a fast wing-back to replace Denzel Dumfries and expressed strong support for Khalaili as the ideal candidate. According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter did not negotiate with other defenders such as Dodô or Gela Doué, focusing solely on Khalaili.

Khalaili joined Union Saint-Gilloise from Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2024 for about €7.5 million. He quickly established himself as a promising talent in Europe, contributing six goals and six assists in 52 appearances last season, including three goals in the UEFA Champions League. His notable performances included a brace against Marseille and a winning goal versus Atalanta.

This transfer marks a significant step in Khalaili's career as he moves to the reigning Italian champions, aiming to compete for a starting spot against Brazilian Luis Henrique, who made 46 appearances last season with one goal and three assists. The move reflects Inter's strategic reinforcement of their squad ahead of the new season.
