Anan Khalaily Signs Record Transfer to Inter Milan from Belgium
Anan Khalaily has completed the largest transfer in Israeli football history by signing a five-year contract with Italian giants Inter Milan. The deal is valued at a base of 23 million euros, potentially rising to between 27 and 30 million euros with bonuses. Khalaily is expected to earn approximately 1.8 million euros per season with the Serie A champions.
This transfer follows Khalaily's standout season at Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise, where he contributed to a cup victory and impressed in the UEFA Champions League. Khalaily began his international career with Israel's youth teams in 2022 and was part of the squad for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He scored the dramatic winning goal in the round of 16 against Uzbekistan in the 97th minute and finished as Israel's top scorer in the tournament, also netting goals in the quarterfinal against Brazil and the third-place match versus South Korea, where he added an assist.
Later in 2023, Khalaily was called up to the Israel U-21 team for the European Championship. He scored the decisive penalty in the quarterfinal shootout against host nation Georgia, helping Israel reach the semifinals and secure a historic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics. On October 6, 2023, he received his first senior national team call-up for UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Switzerland and Kosovo, making his debut on November 15 in a 1-1 draw with Switzerland.
