Two Israeli Soldiers Killed in Gaza Drone Malfunction
The Israeli military announced Friday the deaths of two reserve soldiers, Sergeant Major Nadav Kali and Sergeant Major Ofek Moalem, who were killed in the Gaza Strip. The incident occurred Thursday afternoon when a military drone malfunctioned and exploded. According to the IDF spokesperson, the soldiers were operating in a base in northern Gaza belonging to the 77th Battalion of the 16th Brigade.
Two drones were deployed during the operation. One drone, an "Atalef" type, reportedly detonated at its target. The second drone was either being flown back or fell under unclear circumstances into a tent within the base. When Kali and Moalem approached the fallen drone to inspect it, it exploded in their hands, sustaining severe to critical injuries.
