Israel Braces for Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Through Friday

Israel is experiencing unstable weather conditions with localized rain expected to continue across the northern and central parts of the country until Friday evening, September 18. Some areas may experience thunderstorms, with precipitation possible as far south as the northern Negev desert. The Meteorological Service has issued a "yellow" warning for thunderstorms and lightning in northern Israel and along the northern Mediterranean coast, effective until 2 PM. These storm cells are moving eastward-northeast at approximately 20 km/h. Coastal areas are also facing increased winds and dangerous wave heights of 60-170 cm, making swimming unsafe. Earlier on Friday, significant rainfall was recorded in northern locations, with Manara near the Lebanese border receiving about 7 mm and Kfar Giladi receiving 6 mm. The southern coast saw 3-4 mm of rain, including 3.5 mm in Yad Mordechai. The Judean Mountains, including the Jerusalem area, are also experiencing rain, with some areas seeing heavy downpours. Temperatures are currently below the seasonal average. No significant weather changes are anticipated for Saturday, September 19, with a slight further drop in temperature and continued variable cloudiness. Temperatures are expected to begin rising again on Sunday.
