Rain and Cooler Temperatures Expected Across Northern and Coastal Areas

The Meteorological Service announced that the country will experience a short period of rain on Friday, following precipitation in various regions last month. Warnings have been issued for thunderstorms in the northern part of the country.

Local rainfall is expected in the morning hours across northern Israel and along the coastal plain. Temperatures are forecast to drop noticeably during the day, particularly in mountainous and inland areas, falling slightly below the usual averages for this time of year. Scattered thunderstorms are possible in the north, with winds strengthening in most regions. The chance of rain will decrease by the afternoon.

Meteorologists noted that the expected rainfall amounts are relatively significant for September, a month that typically sees only a few millimeters of rain, if any. The Western Galilee, northern coast, and Sharon areas could receive heavy rain for short durations, accumulating up to 15 mm on Friday.

Long-range models predict additional rainy periods in the coming weeks, especially in October. This follows notable rainfall in August, with Jerusalem receiving about 30 mm and central areas around 10 mm.

On Saturday, temperatures are expected to remain largely unchanged, with a possibility of light drizzle or local showers in the north and along the coastal plain under partly cloudy skies. By Sunday, a slight rise in temperatures is anticipated, bringing them closer to seasonal averages, with a further slight increase expected on Monday.

Conversely, severe heat stress is forecast for the Dead Sea coast, Jordan Valley, and Wadi Araba. Moderate heat stress is expected in the north, coastal plain, inland valleys, Judean Desert, and eastern Negev.
