First Rains Arrive in Northern and Central Israel, Temperatures Drop

Light to moderate rains fell across northern and central Israel on Friday, marking the first significant precipitation in some areas. The heaviest rainfall recorded so far was 7 millimeters in Manara, near the northern border, and 6 millimeters in Kfar Giladi. The southern coast saw between 3 to 4 millimeters, with Yad Mordechai registering 3.5 millimeters. Rains, sometimes heavy, were also reported in the Jerusalem mountains. Thunderstorms were expected in the north, accompanied by strengthening winds across most of the country. Temperatures saw a noticeable drop, with inland and mountainous areas experiencing cooler than average conditions for the season. The local showers were forecast to diminish by the afternoon. The Israel Meteorological Service predicted the rain would continue until at least the late afternoon. The weather is expected to remain stable with no significant changes through the remainder of the weekend and into Yom Kippur.
