Israeli Arab Man Faces Charges for Hamas and Iranian Contact
An indictment is expected to be filed in Israel's Haifa Central Court against a 31-year-old man from Tamra in the Galilee, on charges of security offenses. The charges stem from a joint investigation by the Northern District Police and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
The suspect was arrested on August 28, 2026, during a joint operation. According to a statement from the police and Shin Bet, the investigation revealed suspicions that the man had made multiple contacts with the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing in Gaza, intending to provide them with covert assistance. The investigation also uncovered alleged communications with Iranian intelligence entities.
Authorities stated that the suspect had not managed to carry out any tasks for these groups before his arrest. The indictment, to be filed by the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office, follows the conclusion of the investigation into the alleged contacts and activities.
The Shin Bet and police emphasized their serious view of any involvement by Israeli citizens in activities that endanger state security and citizens, vowing to continue acting within their legal authority to bring those involved in such activities to justice.
