Israeli Arab Man Charged with Aiding Hamas and Iran
Israeli security forces have arrested Sultan Abu Alheiga, a 31-year-old resident of Tamra, on suspicion of serious security offenses. The Shin Bet and Border Police allege that Abu Alheiga repeatedly contacted the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing, seeking to provide them with covert assistance.
Further investigation revealed that Abu Alheiga also established contact with Iranian intelligence officials. However, he was apprehended before he could carry out any tasks for them. He is expected to be indicted on the charges by the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office later today at the city's District Court.
The specific nature of the alleged assistance and the extent of his contacts with the Iranian intelligence remain under investigation, but the charges are expected to include aiding a terror organization and espionage.
