Israeli Arab Charged with Aiding Hamas, Contacting Iranian Intelligence
An Israeli Arab man from Tamra, aged 31, faces charges for security offenses including alleged attempts to aid Hamas and establish contact with Iranian intelligence officials. He was arrested in August, and an indictment is set to be filed against him in the Haifa District Court following an investigation by the Shin Bet and the Northern District Police.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the suspect allegedly approached the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing in Gaza, on multiple occasions with the intention of covertly assisting them. He also reportedly made contact with Iranian intelligence operatives, though he was apprehended before undertaking any missions for them.
The Shin Bet and police stated, "We view any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger the security of the state and its citizens with great severity, and will continue to act according to the authority granted to them by law and take all measures at their disposal to prosecute those involved in this activity."
The indictment is being filed by Adv. Shir Mushyov from the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office.
