The story · English

The Israeli Police and the Shin Bet security agency announced on Friday that an indictment will be filed against a young man from the city of Tamra in the Galilee region of northern Israel for security offenses. The suspect, Sultan Abu Al-Hija, 31, was arrested on August 28th following a joint investigation.

According to a joint statement, Abu Al-Hija allegedly contacted the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas's military wing in Gaza, multiple times seeking to provide them with covert assistance. The investigation also claimed he made contact with Iranian intelligence entities, though he was reportedly unable to carry out any tasks for them before his arrest.

The indictment is set to be filed against him on Friday at the Haifa District Court. The Shin Bet and police stated they treat any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities deemed a threat to state security with extreme seriousness and will continue to take action against those suspected of such activities.

These charges are currently part of the investigation and prosecution process, with the court to ultimately rule on the accusations.
