Israeli Arab Suspected of Aiding Hamas and Iran Faces Security Charges
Sultan Abu Alheiga, a 31-year-old resident of Tamra, will be indicted on security offenses after allegedly attempting to secretly aid Hamas's military wing, the Shin Bet and Israel Police announced Friday. Abu Alheiga was arrested approximately two weeks ago during a joint operation by the two security agencies.
According to the investigation, Abu Alheiga also established contact with Iranian intelligence officials. However, he had not yet carried out any tasks for them before his apprehension. The Shin Bet and Israel Police stated that they view any involvement by Israeli citizens in activities that endanger the state's security with extreme severity and will use all available means to prosecute those involved.
In separate security-related news, the artillery officer of the Gaza Division on October 7th was permanently dismissed from the IDF. Additionally, a heavy machine gun was discovered on a rooftop in Hebron overlooking a large IDF base.
