Israeli Arab Charged with Aiding Hamas, Contacting Iranian Intelligence
Israeli police and the Shin Bet security agency announced Friday that an indictment will be filed against Sultan Abu Al-Hija, a 31-year-old resident of Tamra, on suspicion of security offenses. Abu Al-Hija is accused of attempting to secretly assist the military wing of Hamas and of making contact with Iranian intelligence agencies.
Abu Al-Hija was arrested approximately two weeks ago in a joint operation by the police and Shin Bet. Investigations revealed his alleged contacts with Iranian intelligence, though he had not yet carried out any tasks for them before his apprehension.
The Shin Bet and police stated they view any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger state security with extreme seriousness. They affirmed their continued commitment to using legal authority to hold accountable those involved in such activities.
