Dor Peretz, the top scorer in the Israeli Premier League last season, is in the middle of a decisive stretch over his future after traveling to Zagreb to assess Dinamo Zagreb’s offer. He has not yet made a final decision, but he has also examined several other options, some in person and others through remote talks.
Among the candidates is Cyprus’s Omonia Nicosia, which has reportedly tabled an offer of more than 500,000 euros. Peretz knows the city well. Hungarian club Ferencvaros is also still in the race, and there are additional teams that remain interested.
Peretz is expected to choose by the start of next week, because the clubs do not want to wait any longer. Zagreb and Nicosia are both preparing for Champions League qualifying, and they need an answer soon. At this stage, Dinamo Zagreb is said to have the highest financial offer, though Peretz is also considering other factors.
Maccabi Tel Aviv remains theoretically in contention until he signs elsewhere, but the chances are described as slim. Peretz is reportedly very hurt by Maccabi’s handling of him in recent weeks, and people close to him said, "If they want him, they have a very strange way of showing it to Dor. He deserves respect and proper treatment from Maccabi." Although there were recent rumors that he was using other clubs to pressure Maccabi Tel Aviv, his trip with his wife to examine the offers has led many to conclude he has given up on staying.
