Maccabi Tel Aviv captain and last season’s top scorer in the Israeli Premier League, Dor Peretz, has flown to Croatia to consider an offer from Dinamo Zagreb. The 31-year-old midfielder is out of contract after last season, and he has not yet reached an agreement with Maccabi Tel Aviv on whether he will stay.
The main issue is money. According to the report, there are still significant gaps between the sides, and Beitar Jerusalem has also shown interest and submitted an offer. Dinamo Zagreb’s proposal is said to be substantially higher than Maccabi Tel Aviv’s, but the player is also weighing the professional challenge.
Dinamo Zagreb won the Croatian league title last season and will enter Champions League qualifying in the second round, where it is scheduled to face Swiss club Thun. Maccabi Tel Aviv has tried to keep Peretz, improving its offer to about $430,000 per season, up by $30,000 from the original proposal.
Even so, that figure remains well below Peretz’s current salary of about 600,000 euros including bonuses. People close to the player say that beyond the financial gap, there has still been no formal meeting between the sides, aside from an initial approach near the end of the season.
