Israeli scoring leader Dor Peretz flew to Zagreb to examine Dinamo Zagreb’s offer, and Sport 5 set out what the move could mean for him. Peretz was the top scorer in the Israeli Premier League last season, and if he joins, he is expected to arrive as a first-choice player.
Dinamo are one of the biggest clubs in Croatia and the wider former Yugoslavia region, with a highly influential fan base. The club recently changed presidents after the dramatic events of 2024/25, when Fabio Cannavaro’s team lost the championship. This season, former player Mario Kovacevic is the coach and has stabilized the side.
Dinamo won the Croatian title last season, which means they will start in the second qualifying round of the Champions League against Swiss club Thun. They also beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-1 in last season’s Europa League, and reached the first knockout round of the 2025/26 Europa League. In the league, they finished 18 points ahead of second-place Hajduk Split.
One of their leading players last season was attacking midfielder Luka Stojkovic, who scored 7 goals and added 12 assists, but he is now linked with Lazio, which could open a place for Peretz. Dinamo also have Ismael Bennacer, the Algerian former AC Milan midfielder. The club’s midfield has been especially dominant in chance creation and second-line movement, a style that could suit Peretz, who previously had a short spell with Venezia in Italy.
