Maccabi Tel Aviv captain Dor Peretz has flown to Zagreb to examine a contract offer from Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb, as negotiations with Maccabi continue to stall. The midfielder, who captained Maccabi and finished last season as the Israeli Premier League’s top scorer with 19 goals, is weighing the two options.
According to the report, Dinamo’s offer is worth about €750,000 per season on a two-year contract, with an option for a third year. Peretz is expected to consider not only the salary and deal length, but also the professional challenge, since Dinamo will play in Champions League qualifying.
Peretz traveled with his wife to get a sense of Zagreb and assess living conditions there. He has previously played abroad, in a short spell with Venezia in Italy, but Dinamo would be a very different move because the club is dominant in its domestic league and in a competition more similar to the Israeli Premier League.
If Peretz does sign, he is expected to arrive as a first-choice player. The decision now appears to be between staying at Maccabi Tel Aviv or taking the Croatian offer.
