Maccabi Tel Aviv captain Dor Peretz has flown from Poland to Croatia to weigh a contract offer from Dinamo Zagreb, as talks with his current club remain difficult. The 31-year-old midfielder, whose deal with Maccabi expired this summer, is still deciding his next move for the coming season, with gaps still unresolved between him and his boyhood club. Beitar Jerusalem has also expressed interest in him.
Dinamo Zagreb won the Croatian league last season and will enter Champions League qualifying in the second round, where it is set to face Swiss side Thun. The club also beat Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-1 in the Europa League last season. The report noted that Martin Baturina, son of former Bnei Yehuda player Mate, played for Dinamo until last season and scored against England at the World Cup yesterday.
Peretz was born in Hod HaSharon and came through Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth system, reaching the senior team at age 19. He spent a total of 12 years at the club, aside from a half-season loan at Hapoel Haifa and one season in Italy with Venezia before returning to Israel. Last season, he finished as the top scorer in the Israeli Premier League with 19 goals.
Peretz has also made 55 appearances for Israel and scored 9 goals.
