Maccabi Tel Aviv captain Dor Peretz has flown to Croatia to examine an offer from Dinamo Zagreb, as talks over a new deal with his current club remain stuck. The 31-year-old midfielder, whose contract expired this summer, is still weighing his next move, and Beitar Jerusalem has also shown interest.
Peretz was reported at a Polish airport on his way to Zagreb. Dinamo, last season’s Croatian champion, will enter the second qualifying round of the Champions League and face Swiss side Thun. The club defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 3-1 in the Europa League last season.
Peretz was born in Hod HaSharon and came through Maccabi Tel Aviv’s youth system, reaching the senior team at age 19. In total, he spent 12 years at the club, apart from a half-season loan at Hapoel Haifa and one season in Italy with Venezia before returning to Israel.
Last season, Peretz finished as the Israeli Premier League’s top scorer with 19 goals. He has made 55 appearances for Israel and scored nine goals for the national team.
