The Lod District Court has sentenced Shelly Sheinker, a former daycare assistant in Netanya, to seven years in prison. Sheinker was found guilty of a series of violent acts against 12 children under her care. The offenses occurred between May 29 and June 27, 2024.
According to court documents, Sheinker physically assaulted the children by kicking and hitting them, pulling their hair, and throwing them onto the floor and mattresses. She was convicted on nine counts of cruel treatment of a helpless minor by a caregiver and 33 counts of causing bodily harm to a helpless minor by a caregiver.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Sheinker to pay 300,000 shekels in compensation to the victimized children. The verdict concludes an investigation into the assistant's conduct at the daycare facility over several weeks.
