Childcare Worker Sentenced to Seven Years for Abusing Toddlers
A district court in Lod has sentenced Shai Shainker, a former assistant at the "HaGan HaShakuf" (The Transparent Garden) daycare center in Netanya, to seven years in prison for abusing and assaulting 12 infants. The toddlers, aged between seven months and 18 months, were subjected to a series of abusive acts by Shainker during her employment at the facility.
In addition to the prison sentence, the court ordered Shainker to pay NIS 300,000 (approximately $81,000 USD) in compensation to the families of the abused children. The court found Shainker guilty of multiple counts of abuse and assault against the vulnerable infants.
The sentencing follows Shainker's conviction for her actions at the daycare. The details of the abuse were not specified in the initial report, but the court's decision reflects the severity of the crimes committed against the young children.
