Beit Shemesh Man Charged with Murdering 7-Year-Old, Attempting to Kill Cousin

The State Prosecutor's Office has filed an indictment against Liel Ifargan, 26, from Beit Shemesh, in the Jerusalem District Court. Ifargan is accused of the aggravated murder of 7-year-old Hillel Mordechai Danon and the attempted murder of his 4-year-old cousin. The prosecution is requesting that Ifargan be held in custody until the conclusion of his trial.

According to the indictment, on August 17, the two children were playing in an inflatable pool in the yard of a house in Beit Shemesh. Ifargan, who lived in a nearby apartment, emerged from his residence armed with a knife. He entered the yard, approached the pool, and stabbed Hillel in the chest and his cousin in the neck. He then returned to his apartment and washed the blood off the knife.

Hillel died from his wounds. His cousin sustained a severe neck injury with significant bleeding. He was taken for surgery, placed in an induced coma, and connected to a ventilator. He remained hospitalized for three days. The prosecution's statement did not mention Ifargan's mental state.
