Man Charged with Murdering 7-Year-Old Boy in Pool Attack

Israel's State Prosecution has filed an indictment against Liel Ifargan, 26, from Beit Shemesh, for the aggravated murder of 7-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon and the attempted murder of his cousin. The indictment details that Ifargan allegedly emerged from a nearby housing unit armed with a knife and attacked the two boys while they were playing in an inflatable pool in a backyard.

According to the charges, Ifargan stabbed Hillel in the chest and his cousin in the neck with the intent to kill them. Following the attack, Ifargan reportedly fled back to his residence and cleaned the knife. Hillel succumbed to his chest wound, while his cousin sustained a severe neck injury, requiring hospitalization and surgery.

The indictment charges Ifargan with aggravated murder, attempted murder, and aggravated grievous bodily harm. The prosecution has requested that he be held in custody until the conclusion of legal proceedings.

The prosecution expressed deep sorrow for Hillel's family and wished for the full recovery of his cousin, stating, "It is difficult to grasp the gap between the innocent play of two children in a pool and the defendant's decision to arm himself with a knife and take their lives." They emphasized that the indictment reflects the exceptional severity of the alleged acts and their irreversible, tragic outcome.
