Man Indicted for Murder, Attempted Murder of Boys in Beit Shemesh

A month after the fatal stabbing of a young boy, prosecutors in Jerusalem have filed a severe indictment against Liel Ifargan, a 26-year-old resident of Beit Shemesh. Ifargan is charged with murder under aggravated circumstances and attempted murder.

According to the indictment, Ifargan allegedly attacked seven-year-old Hillel Mordechai Dadon and his cousin with a knife while they were playing in an inflatable pool in their yard. Ifargan is accused of emerging from a nearby housing unit, armed with a knife, entering the yard, and stabbing Hillel in the chest and his cousin in the neck, intending to kill them.

Hillel died from his wounds shortly after the attack. His cousin sustained a severe neck injury with active bleeding, requiring emergency surgery and three days of hospitalization before his condition stabilized. Ifargan reportedly fled back to his residence after the attack and washed the blood from the knife blade in an attempt to destroy evidence.

The indictment includes charges of intentional murder under aggravated circumstances, attempted murder, and causing severe injury under aggravated circumstances. The prosecution is seeking to detain Ifargan until the conclusion of legal proceedings, emphasizing the shocking nature of the crime and the vast disparity between the children's innocent play and the alleged perpetrator's violent actions.
