Young Man Missing Off Haifa Beach After Diving Trip
Extensive search operations are underway off the coast of Haifa for a man in his 20s who disappeared while diving at Students Beach on Thursday afternoon. The young man entered the water with a friend, who later exited on a kayak and alerted rescue forces when his companion did not return.
Numerous rescue and police units, including marine police, firefighters, and ZAKA volunteers, have been involved in the search since Thursday evening. The operation continued through the night and into the current hours, utilizing advanced technological means, a helicopter, drones, sea vessels, and coastal patrols.
According to initial reports, the two friends entered the water together. The missing man continued to dive while his companion left the sea on a kayak. When the companion realized the diver had not resurfaced, he immediately contacted the authorities.
The Carmel district police, marine patrol, Lahav unit, and jeep unit volunteers are participating in the intensive search efforts, employing aerial surveillance, sea craft, and ground teams.
