Extensive Search Underway for Missing Diver Off Haifa Coast
Emergency services are conducting extensive searches off the Students' Beach in Haifa for a diver who entered the water on Friday afternoon and has not returned. The diver was engaged in free diving without equipment, accompanied by a family member on a kayak.
After the diver remained submerged for an extended period, rescue forces were mobilized. The search operation involves a helicopter, drones, boats, jet skis, motorcycles, mounted police, and foot patrols along the coastline. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon, and the search efforts continued into Friday.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in late August when a seven-year-old boy drowned in an artificial lake at "Drom" Park in Tel Aviv. He had entered the lake with his brother and disappeared. Despite rescue efforts and resuscitation attempts, he was pronounced dead at Ichilov Hospital. Another recent drowning involved a 12-year-old boy who capsized in a boat on the Jordan River and was found deceased.
