Extensive Search Underway for Missing 20-Year-Old Diver in Haifa
An extensive search operation is ongoing in Haifa to locate a 20-year-old man who disappeared while free diving off Students Beach on Friday. The young man entered the water on Thursday afternoon with another family member who remained on a kayak. He was free diving without equipment and has not been seen since.
Numerous forces are involved in the search, with helicopters and drones deployed. The Police Commissioner, Yaakov Shabtai, and the Commander of the Special Patrol Unit (YAMAM), Superintendent A, have arrived at the scene to oversee the efforts. The search began several hours after his disappearance, during the night, and is encompassing sea, land, and air.
Rescue units from the Fire and Rescue Services' Lahav unit, along with police forces and ZAKA volunteers, are utilizing sonar technology, conducting searches on jet skis, and performing foot patrols along the coastline.
