Netanyahu Tells IDF Leadership Regime Change in Iran is Israel's Next Key Mission

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking at a New Year's toast with top military officials, declared that overthrowing the Iranian regime is Israel's central, achievable mission.

Netanyahu addressed the Chief of Staff, the Minister of Defense, and members of the General Staff Forum at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv on Thursday, ahead of the Rosh Hashanah holiday. He stated that the mission to topple the Iranian government is "within reach" and "not impossible."

Reflecting on past military operations and the "war of survival," Netanyahu asserted that Israel has successfully distanced itself from the existential threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions and its desire to annihilate the Jewish state. He characterized the current Iranian regime as "limping," "weaker than ever," and "fighting for its life."

"I am convinced of our ability to remove this threat once and for all, meaning to overthrow this regime," Netanyahu stated, expressing confidence in the capabilities of Israeli soldiers, pilots, and the home front. He also noted that Iran's restraint in directly attacking Israel, despite its aggression towards others, demonstrates an awareness of Israel's strength and resolve.

Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister issued a direct warning to Israel's enemies, urging them not to test Israel's resolve, strength, and internal unity, wishing the nation a good year.
