Sara Netanyahu Accused of Conspiracy Theories Over Yair Golan's 7 October Role

Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has ignited controversy with remarks made during an interview on Channel 14 on Monday. She implied that Yair Golan, leader of the National Unity party, had prior knowledge of the October 7th Hamas attacks, suggesting he was prepared before the Prime Minister.

"You claim you were a warrior on October 7th, you were there early in the morning, you were already dressed and ready. Very early, when others didn't know, like the Prime Minister," Netanyahu stated, referencing Golan's actions on the day of the attack.

The National Unity party vehemently condemned Netanyahu's comments, labeling them "baseless and false" and a "red line" that borders on madness. The party asserted that while Netanyahu was "rushing to put on makeup and look for excuses," Golan was actively engaged in fighting and saving lives. They emphasized that Golan acted in the early hours of the attack, assisting in rescuing people from the Nova music festival site, and that these facts would not change regardless of attempts to rewrite them.

Golan himself had previously described waking up around 6:30 AM on October 7th to reports of gunfire and infiltrations, subsequently donning his military uniform to help manage the situation. Ben Shalom, a Nova festival survivor, corroborated this, stating Golan arrived in his personal car with his own weapon and helped evacuate survivors from the trees.

Benny Gantz, leader of the National Unity party, also weighed in, rejecting any association of Golan with treason and calling such accusations "not only false but damaging to the fighting spirit of the Israeli people." The controversy emerges amid recent revelations about alleged attempts by senior Netanyahu staffers to sow discord within the government during the war.
