Yair Golan to Sue Sara Netanyahu and Channel 14 Over Conspiracy Claims

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, is preparing to file a defamation lawsuit against Sara Netanyahu and Channel 14. The action follows an interview given by the Prime Minister's wife on Tuesday, in which she implied Golan had prior knowledge of the October 7th Hamas attack.

During the interview, Sara Netanyahu stated that Golan was dressed and ready early on October 7th, "when others did not know, such as the Prime Minister." She sarcastically questioned why the Prime Minister needed to be informed of a war. When asked about a "betrayal theory," she declined to comment but suggested a "real investigation committee" was needed.

The remarks generated significant controversy, drawing international attention. Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported that Netanyahu's wife attacked a political rival and promoted a conspiracy theory, noting that her accusations echoed existing conspiracy theories within parts of the political sphere.

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett defended Golan, calling the conspiracy theory "sick, false, and dangerous" and aimed against IDF and Shin Bet commanders. Bennett stated that Golan drove into the conflict zone on October 7th to save lives and vowed that a future state inquiry commission would uncover the truth.

Former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot also condemned Sara Netanyahu's statements, labeling the "crazy betrayal conspiracy" as baseless and intended to fuel hatred and maintain Netanyahu's rule. Eisenkot praised Golan for his actions on October 7th, emphasizing his courage and heroism in saving lives.
