This campaign follows Sara Netanyahu's accusation that Golan was aware of the October 7th Hamas attack before it began. Golan publicly addressed the controversy for the first time in a podcast interview, stating that Sara Netanyahu's remarks were not a slip of the tongue but part of a deliberate campaign to discredit him and government opponents.

Golan elaborated that he perceives these accusations as part of a long-term strategy to tarnish his reputation, noting similar sentiments expressed by individuals within the Likud party and the coalition since October 7th. When asked about his whereabouts when he learned of Sara Netanyahu's comments, he recounted his wife asking him if he had seen the accusations. He firmly rejected the idea of a mere "slip of the tongue," emphasizing his belief in a "planned campaign."

Reflecting on his actions on October 7th, when he joined the fighting and assisted in evacuations from the Nova music festival site, Golan stated that such accusations are part of a broader pattern he has observed for years. He referenced a speech he gave over a decade ago about "processes," asserting it was a well-considered statement reflecting his foresight into the current situation. He described Netanyahu's "real project" as the "destruction of the norms and values of Israeli society, turning good into evil, straight into crooked, worthy and moral into corrupt."

Golan characterized the statements against him as part of an "poisoning machine" targeting him and his principles, rather than solely an issue with Sara Netanyahu. This development comes after a separate report where Netanyahu addressed the scandal, stating, "There was no betrayal."
