Yair Golan Vows Lawsuit Against Sara Netanyahu Over Oct. 7 Claims

Yair Golan, chairman of the Democratic Party, announced Tuesday that he will "definitely file a lawsuit" against Sara Netanyahu. The announcement came after the Prime Minister's wife alleged in a Channel 14 interview that Golan, a retired Major General, arrived in southern Israel very early on October 7th, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was still unaware of the unfolding Hamas attack. Sara Netanyahu questioned how Golan, a high-ranking officer, was dressed and ready so early, suggesting he may have had prior knowledge.

Golan, a former Deputy Chief of Staff, was indeed in the Gaza border area on the morning of October 7th, assisting in rescue and combat operations. While Netanyahu's remarks raise questions about the timing of his deployment, she did not present evidence that Golan had prior knowledge of the Hamas assault.

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, also responded to Sara Netanyahu's comments. He stated that on October 7th, Israel, under Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership, "abandoned its citizens in the south to their fate." Eisenkot criticized Sara Netanyahu's "crazy betrayal conspiracy theory," calling it baseless and designed solely to incite hatred and perpetuate Netanyahu's rule. He accused the Prime Minister of evading responsibility for the "terrible failure in Israel's history."

Eisenkot concluded by supporting Golan, contrasting those who claim they were "not woken up" with those who "got up and charged without asking questions." He affirmed that they would not allow truth and falsehood to be interchanged and praised Golan for his "responsibility, courage, and heroic rescue of lives" on October 7th.
