ראש הממשלה בנימין נתניהו החליט להקצות מקום שמור ברשימת הליכוד לבחירות לאלישע מאדן, לוחם מילואים וממקימי היישוב אביגיל שבחבל דרום הר חברון. מאדן נפצע קשה בקרבות בבית חאנון שבצפון רצועת עזה, שם נהרגו ארבעה מחבריו ליחידה. כתוצאה מפציעתו איבד את שתי רגליו.
