Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is considering reserving top Likud Knesset slots for former finance minister Moshe Kahlon, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar, and Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut Mayor and Local Government Center chair Haim Bibas, according to a report Tuesday on Kan News' "The Morning This" on Reshet Bet.
Sources in Likud said Netanyahu is expected to demand eight or nine reserved placements on the party's Knesset slate. The plan would include three candidates in the top 10, two in the second 10, and at least three more in the third 10.
In Sa'ar's case, the assessment is that he would prefer to use a reserved slot rather than run in the party's primaries. Netanyahu's circle has also recently approached Ari Spitz with an offer to join the list. Spitz is an IDF soldier who was badly wounded in Gaza and lost both legs and one arm.
Spitz underwent rehabilitation after his injuries and lit a torch at the most recent Independence Day ceremony.
