Likud Party Reserves Spot for Mother of Fallen Soldier

The Likud party announced Tuesday it has reserved a spot on its Knesset list for Talik Guili, the mother of Sergeant Major Rani Guili, who was killed in action on October 7th and whose body was held in Gaza. Guili, who was also a torchbearer on Independence Day, was recognized for her strength and determination during her son's captivity and her subsequent efforts to memorialize him and promote his story of heroism and Zionist values. The party described her as a symbol of strength, dedication, and commitment to Israel.

Guili's inclusion follows the recent addition of Elisha Medan, a reservist who was critically wounded in battle in Beit Hanoun, losing both his legs. Medan, a father of six and son of Rabbi Yaakov Medan, is a co-founder of the community of Avigail in the Hebron Hills. He was also a torchbearer for healing and rehabilitation on the last Independence Day. Likud stated that Medan embodies values of dedication, responsibility, love for the land, and camaraderie, and that his life story reflects the spirit of Israeli fighters and the nation's resilience.

Talik Guili's son, Rani, fought on October 7th despite being injured, saving many lives before falling in battle. His body was returned to Israel as part of Operation "Brave Heart." The party praised Talik Guili and her family for their exceptional strength and unwavering faith during the difficult period of her son's captivity.
