Ayelet Shaked Welcomes War Hero Elisha Danon to Likud Party
Former Justice and Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked has warmly welcomed Elisha Danon, a decorated war hero who lost both legs above the knee during combat in Gaza, to the Likud party's Knesset list. Shaked shared a touching post detailing her visit to Danon in the hospital shortly after his severe injury, expressing admiration for his strength and resilience.
"I visited Elisha Danon in the hospital a few days after his severe injury, and I immediately saw the strength this man possesses," Shaked wrote. "Being a double amputee above the knee is a daily, not to say hourly, challenge. Elisha faces it with heroism, and I believe he can show the whole world what our fighters are made of and show the people of Israel how much good there is in our nation."
Shaked also reflected on Danon's personal journey regarding public disputes in Israel, noting his strong support for the judicial reform during that period. However, she stated that after the October 7th attacks, he recognized the cost of internal conflict. "I know that Elisha sees the unity of Israel as a value he wishes to promote and that for him, this is a mission," Shaked explained.
Concluding her message, Shaked emphasized Danon's suitability for public service. "This is why, in my opinion, Elisha Danon is exactly the kind of person we need in politics and in the Knesset," she stated, wishing him success and adding, "Elisha, go forth and succeed. You have a lot of work ahead of you."
