Over 100 Israelis Riot in Palestinian Village, Injuring Border Police

More than 100 Israelis rioted overnight between Monday and Tuesday in the Palestinian village of Jalud, located in the Samaria region of the West Bank. The rioters threw stones at security forces and set fire to Palestinian structures, vehicles, and property. Three Border Police officers sustained minor injuries, and damage was caused to a security forces vehicle.

The Israeli military and Border Police arrived at the scene as part of a coordinated operation to allow a Palestinian family to return to their home in the village. According to the IDF, the family had been forced to leave their home following several nationalist crime incidents targeting them. However, due to the violence that erupted, the family's return to their home was not completed.

The IDF reported that over 100 Israeli rioters were present, blocking roads, burning tires, and throwing stones at security forces. Additionally, Palestinian structures, vehicles, and other property were set ablaze. Security forces used crowd dispersal methods and arrested two suspects, identified as minors aged 15 and 17 from northern Israel and the Benjamin region, who were taken for questioning. The police later arrested a third suspect, an 18-year-old from Jerusalem, after finding items in his vehicle that allegedly linked him to the incident, including face coverings and a baton. His vehicle was seized, and another vehicle suspected of being used by the rioters was also found.

Investigators from the Judea and Samaria District, the Shin Bet security agency, and forensic investigators are preparing to enter the village sites under IDF security to collect evidence and take testimonies. President Isaac Herzog condemned the events, calling the violence a "most serious act" that must be dealt with "with the full severity of the law." He stated that such actions are a "moral stain" and a violation of the rule of law and basic values. Herzog added that arson, stone-throwing, and attacks on soldiers and Border Police officers are "absolutely forbidden" and have no justification, urging law enforcement to act against those involved.

The IDF stated that such incidents "distract attention, undermine stability, and harm the defense and counter-terrorism operations of the security forces," emphasizing that the defense establishment condemns attacks on security personnel, vandalism, and property damage.
