Israeli Police Investigate Nighttime Riots Near Jalud Village

Israeli police have launched an investigation into nighttime riots that occurred near the Palestinian village of Jalud, according to a statement from the Israeli police press service. The incident took place while Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and border police were escorting a Palestinian family back to their home. The family had previously been forced to leave their residence due to violence.

Over 100 Israeli rioters gathered in the area, blocking roads, setting fire to car tires, and throwing stones at security forces. The rioters also set fire to Palestinian structures, vehicles, and other property. During the clashes, three border police officers sustained minor injuries, and a police vehicle was damaged. Security forces used crowd dispersal methods.

The mission to return the family was not completed due to the escalation of violence. Police apprehended an 18-year-old resident of Jerusalem on the outskirts of the village, seizing his car, masks, a club, and other items. Another vehicle, believed to have been used in the attacks, was also found. Earlier, IDF soldiers had detained two other suspects, aged 15 and 17, who are currently being interrogated.

The Shin Bet (General Security Service) and forensic investigators have joined the probe. They examined the scenes to collect evidence and document traces of the crime. Officials from the defense and law enforcement agencies condemned the attacks on security personnel, vandalism, and property damage, noting that such incidents distract security forces, undermine stability, and hinder efforts to ensure security and combat terrorism. Search operations are ongoing to identify all involved individuals.
