Ambassador's Son Critically Injured in West Bank Attack Undergoing Multiple Surgeries

Neria Leiter, son of Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter, is in serious condition at Shaare Zedek Medical Center after suffering a severe head injury in a car-ramming attack at the Makabim checkpoint. His mother, Chani Leiter, reported on Thursday that Neria underwent two head surgeries and three operations in total, arriving at the hospital unconscious and in critical condition. She stated, "We are waiting. For now, he is stable, suffering from a severe head injury. He underwent 2 head surgeries, and 3 surgeries in total. He arrived in very serious condition." She added, "Slowly, the realization is sinking in a bit. For now, it is impossible to know how much the injury will affect his condition. He arrived unconscious and the doctors are doing the best they can. His life is currently in danger."

Neria's niece was born on Wednesday, while he was hospitalized. This incident follows a personal tragedy for the Leiter family, as Ambassador Yechiel Leiter lost his son, Major Moshe Yedidya Leiter, 39, in the Gaza conflict in November 2023. Moshe, a company commander in the 697th Battalion, lived in Ein Tzurim and fell along with three other soldiers. Footage showed the four soldiers shortly before entering Gaza.
