Ambassador to US Visits Son Injured in Terror Attack

Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Michael (Yechiel) Leiter, visited his son Neria at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem on Wednesday. Neria Leiter was critically injured Tuesday in a vehicular ramming attack at a checkpoint on Route 443. The ambassador reported that doctors have stabilized his son's condition following a series of tests and surgeries. "His condition is still serious and his life is in danger, but we are full of hope," Leiter stated, adding that he had feared arriving to find no hope.

Leiter expressed gratitude for the widespread prayers for his son's recovery, mentioning prayers from "hundreds of synagogues and Christian churches" he has visited. During his visit, Ambassador Leiter also criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for stating at the UN that Hamas does not operate in the West Bank. "Out of ignorance, malice, and wickedness, he stood at the UN and said that Hamas has never harmed Jews in Judea and Samaria," Leiter said. He asserted that attacks like the one on his son and on Natanel Shokron are intended to uproot Israelis from the land.
