Son of Israeli Ambassador to US Critically Injured in Terror Attack
Neria Leiter, the 36-year-old son of Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yehiel Leiter, remains in serious condition after being critically wounded in a terror attack on Highway 443 near Beit Horon. He sustained severe injuries to multiple organs and underwent emergency resuscitation and a lengthy brain surgery due to intracranial bleeding. Doctors at Shaare Zedek Medical Center have stabilized his condition, but his life remains in danger. The ambassador has flown to Israel from the U.S. to be with his son. Leiter posted on X that his son needs a miracle and thanked the military and medical personnel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the family at the hospital and urged the public to pray for Neria's recovery. Neria Leiter, who has served hundreds of days in reserve duty since the start of the war, lost his older brother, Major (res.) Moshe Yedidya Leiter, in November 2023 in northern Gaza. Ambassador Leiter stated that Palestinian terrorism aims to expel Israelis, but Israelis choose life. A mass prayer for Neria's recovery was held near the Western Wall in Jerusalem on the night of September 24.
