Reservist Critically Injured in Terror Attack, Son of Israeli Ambassador to US
Reservist Neriah Leiter, son of Israeli Ambassador to the United States Michael (Yechiel) Leiter, remains in very serious condition following a car-ramming attack at the Baka Junction on Route 443. He underwent complex brain surgery at Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
Professor Alex Yoskovitz, Deputy Director of Medicine at Shaare Zedek, stated on Thursday morning that Leiter is "still in very serious condition, and his life is still in danger. We are doing everything we can and hoping for the best."
Ambassador Michael Leiter addressed the incident on his X account, formerly Twitter, appealing to the Israeli public for prayers. "I thank the IDF and the medical team at Shaare Zedek who are fighting for Neriah Dov ben Chana's life, and the prayers of the people of Israel. I believe in the power of prayer and believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neriah needs a miracle," he wrote.
The ambassador highlighted his son's dedication, noting that Neriah continued his reserve duty after losing his older brother, Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who was killed in the war. Neriah had served hundreds of days in the reserves on various fronts since October 7th. The ambassador added, "Palestinian terror aims to uproot the people of Israel from their land. They choose death, we choose life."
