Reservist Critically Injured in Terror Attack, Family Prays for Recovery

Reservist Neria Leiter is in critical condition at Shaare Zedek Medical Center after being run over by a terrorist at the Beit Lid checkpoint. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu retweeted a message from Neria's father, Ambassador Yehiel Leiter, expressing prayers for Neria's recovery. Neria, who is also mourning his brother, Major (res.) Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who was killed in the war, had previously posted a moving message on Facebook in May about his reserve duty.

In his May post, Neria described being called up for two and a half months of reserve duty, stating that life had become a series of missions and that he felt a profound sense of privilege to be part of historic moments and serve alongside dedicated individuals. He reflected on the importance of focusing on personal responsibility amidst national discourse and the challenges of returning to duty as a bereaved brother.

Leiter detailed the diverse makeup of his reserve unit, comprising individuals from various backgrounds, united by their commitment to serve without complaint. He praised the professionalism and dedication of his commanders, emphasizing the unit's ability to function effectively as citizen-soldiers. He concluded his post by quoting a friend, 'A sucker is one who stands aside and doesn't participate,' highlighting the immense privilege of being part of a generation actively defending their home.
