Israeli Official Visits Hospitalized Reservist, Calls for Government Action

Israel Gantz, head of the Benjamin Regional Council and chairman of the Yesha Council, visited Neria Dov Leiter at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Leiter, a reservist, was critically injured in a terrorist attack on Route 443.

Leiter, the son of Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Yechiel Leiter, sustained his injuries at a checkpoint on Route 443 and was evacuated to the hospital in serious condition. His family has requested prayers for his recovery, identifying him as Neria Dov, son of Hannah.

Gantz stated he was at the hospital with the family as medical teams worked to stabilize Neria's condition. Neria and his parents, Chani and Yechiel Leiter, reside in the settlement of Ali in the Benjamin region. The article also noted Neria's brother, Maj. Moshe Yedidya Leiter, fell in combat in Gaza in November 2023. Despite this loss, Neria has continued extensive reserve duty since October 7, serving hundreds of days on multiple fronts, according to his father.

"On behalf of the residents of Benjamin, I send strength to the Leiter family," Gantz said, adding that the region's residents stand with the family and pray for Neria's recovery. Gantz also mentioned he spoke with Prime Minister Netanyahu before the latter's departure to the U.S., and proceeded to discuss the security and policy implications of the incident.
