Israeli Ambassador to US Reacts to Son's Critical Injury in Terror Attack

Israel's Ambassador to the United States, Michael (Yechiel) Laser, has issued his first public statement following the severe injury of his son, Neria Dov, who was critically wounded in a vehicular ramming attack at the Makabim checkpoint. Laser expressed gratitude to the IDF and the medical team at Shaare Zedek Medical Center, who are fighting to save his son's life, and to the people of Israel for their prayers. Neria was evacuated to the hospital in critical condition.

This incident comes after Ambassador Laser lost another son, Moshe, an officer in the Sayeret Shaldag special forces unit, who was killed in combat in northern Gaza two months after the ground offensive began. Neria himself had continued to serve in reserve duty for hundreds of days on various fronts since October 7th, even after the death of his older brother.

"Palestinian terrorism seeks to uproot the people of Israel from their land. They choose death, we choose life," Laser stated, emphasizing his belief in the power of prayer and unity. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also offered prayers for Neria's swift recovery, expressing solidarity with Ambassador Laser and his family, and commending the soldiers who neutralized the attacker. Gallant affirmed his faith in the IDF and security forces, vowing to prevent terrorism from gaining ground.
