Two Israeli Soldiers Lightly Wounded in Southern Lebanon After Hezbollah Bombing

Two Israeli soldiers were lightly injured in southern Lebanon on Saturday when an engineering vehicle struck a Hezbollah explosive device. The soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment and their families were notified, the IDF spokesperson's office stated. In response, Israeli forces attacked Hezbollah infrastructure in the area, targeting observation posts and facilities used by the terror group to advance attacks against Israeli forces. The IDF emphasized its continued deployment in southern Lebanon according to agreements and its commitment to neutralizing threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers.

The IDF stated, "The IDF is currently acting and will continue to act forcefully against the repeated attempts by the Hezbollah terror organization to harm our forces." This incident follows a series of IDF operations in southern Lebanon in recent months. Days prior, forces discovered and destroyed 32 rockets in launch sites, prepared for firing into Israel before a ceasefire agreement, in the security zone.

In recent weeks, soldiers from the Maglan and Yahalom units completed a three-month operation in the Al-Tahir mountain range in southern Lebanon, locating and destroying Hezbollah infrastructure. This operation uncovered the central command complex of Hezbollah's Badr unit, including kilometers of underground tunnels with command centers, communication and intelligence equipment, ventilation systems, kitchens, and medical rooms. Separately, the IDF is increasing its alert status across all fronts, particularly along the borders with Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as in Judea and Samaria, in preparation for the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday.
