Two Israeli Soldiers Injured in Southern Lebanon Bombing

Two Israeli soldiers were lightly wounded on Saturday, September 19, when an engineering vehicle struck an explosive device planted by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon's security zone. The soldiers were evacuated for medical treatment, and their families have been notified. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, including observation posts and facilities used by the group for attacks against Israeli forces. The IDF stated its forces operate in the security zone in accordance with the ceasefire agreement and will continue to address threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers. The IDF also reported that immediately following the vehicle explosion, several terrorist targets in southern Lebanon were attacked. This incident follows a pattern of clashes in the area. On September 7, Hezbollah militants opened fire on Israeli soldiers near the Beaufort Castle, resulting in the death of one militant and light injuries to two soldiers. On September 15, IDF soldiers discovered 32 ready-to-fire rockets aimed at Israel, which the military believes Hezbollah placed in the buffer zone before the ceasefire. Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the IDF, visited forces in the buffer zone on September 16, emphasizing that the campaign against Hezbollah is ongoing and significant operational successes have been achieved. He reiterated the IDF's determination to clear Hezbollah from south of the Litani River and disarm the organization, stating this goal cannot be achieved through an agreement with the Lebanese government until the Lebanese army improves its effectiveness.
