Two Israeli Soldiers Killed and Four Wounded in Southern Lebanon Bomb Blast

Two Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were killed and four others seriously injured in a powerful explosive device detonation in Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon. The incident occurred as a reserve IDF unit was clearing a building in the western sector of southern Lebanon, near the southern coastal ridge between Tyre and Ras al-Naqura. The fallen soldiers were identified as Reserve Captain Harel Birnstok and Reserve Lieutenant Colonel Tamir Vaknin. Six soldiers were affected by the blast; two died at the scene while four were evacuated by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa for treatment.

Following the explosion, the IDF launched retaliatory strikes against Hezbollah targets beyond the Blue Line. The military issued an urgent warning to Lebanese civilians, especially residents of the village of Al-Mansouri, urging immediate evacuation of homes and movement at least 1,000 meters northwards to avoid harm. The statement emphasized that Hezbollah's violation of the ceasefire compelled the IDF to respond forcefully but clarified that the IDF does not intend to harm civilians.

This attack marks a significant escalation in the volatile southern Lebanon region, with the IDF reinforcing its stance against Hezbollah's activities. Medical and military reinforcements promptly assisted the wounded and secured the area. The incident and subsequent military response underline ongoing tensions despite the ceasefire agreement.
